Hey.

I'm Mary. It's nice to meet you. This blog is a tiny space on the internet to document my musings on style, travel and culture. Enjoy!

Designers Counter Couture and George Moskal unveiled their latest collections tonight in an expertly produced runway show at Grain Belt Bottling Co., the first of many fashion events taking place over the next few days for MNfashion Week

I can't even begin to count how many fabulous industry insiders were in attendance, from stylists and designers to producers and photographers. Everyone is so excited about the direction local fashion seems to be heading.

Counter Couture, shown in the first group of photos above, is comprised of designers Angie Arner, Katrina Elliott and Allison Danzl. Their entire collection is made with of discarded garments in an effort to promote eco responsibility. I enjoyed the bold nature of their designs, particularly in the use of stripes and vivd colors. The first dress pictured above is my favorite — I love the deep V-neck, cap sleeves and color-blocking; it drew quite a bit of applause on the runway.

George Moskal, whose work appears in the second group of photos above, is a bit of a verteran in the local scene, having designed for Voltage numerous times. He's known for his classic, refined, exquisitely tailored garments, and this evening was no different. Each piece was utterly elegant and chic, the ideal resortwear for a Parisian-minded woman. My favorite look was his breathtaking wide-leg white pants, paired with a tailored, cropped top with accentuated shoulders and an open back.
