I went to lunch with Evan Miller, the Director of Global Communications at Aveda, a couple months ago and he regaled me with tales of backstage craziness during the Spring/Summer 2011 New York shows. Aveda did hair for several big names last season — Rodarte, Jason Wu, Christian Siriano (who's in a bit of a mood lately), Sophie Théallet, and ORGANIC by John Patrick — and had cameras backstage to catch all the action.
In honor of the Fall/Winter shows starting this week, I decided to run a little story in METRO magazine's February issue on some of the amazing looks Aveda created last season. Check it out:
It was super fun for my art director and I to work with these photos. He took one look at the Kanye West shot and insisted we include it. I couldn't think of any good reason why not, despite the fact that Mr. West doesn't have much influcence in the hair world. It's pretty cool that he likes fashion so much.
Aveda's doing hair for the same peeps this season, so hopefully I can share some more photos with you in the coming weeks!
