My boyfriend and I spend a few blissful nights at The American Club in Kohler, Wis. a couple weekends ago. Most people have heard of Kohler without even realizing it — think faucets! Back in the turn of the century, Kohler created a village to house the workers that manufacture its plumbing products. Now, it's still a factory town, and the old worker dormitories have been renovated into one of the nicest resorts I've ever visited — The American Club — and, hands down, the nicest spa I've ever visited — Kohler Waters Spa.
We lucked out with gorgeous autumn weather and found these cool train tracks just as the sun was setting. The photos of me in a vintage mauve dress were taken right before dinner at The Immigrant, Kohler's ultra fancy restaurant tucked away in the basement of The American Club. If you're ever in the area, visit this place. It's off-the-hook swanky.
I also can't recommend Kohler enough for weddings! Whisting Straits, the nearby golf course, has an amazing stone barn for receptions and courtyard for ceremonies overlooking Lake Michigan. It's quite breathtaking. Good for Wisconsonites or destination-wedding seekers.
